Shadow Art

Similar to the Photo Doodles assignment, this one uses shadows to create pieces of art. Invented by artist Vincent Bal, the key here is to use your imagination and ask “what if?” What if this shape wasn’t the shadow of a teacup but the body of an elephant? Or the tip of a dart is a cowboy hat? Using shadows as the basis for your drawing will force you to get creative and think of all the fun possibilities a simple shadow might be.

TIP: As he mentions in the video, using the sun as your lightsource is too hit or miss and can change on a dime. Try using a singular spotlight or strong lamp that creates a caste shadow in one clear direction.
